Who will be your Kansas City wedding photographer?  Looking for photographers in Kansas City?  Look no further!

Here is a list of some things you should consider when looking for a Kansas City wedding photographer. In addition to this list please see our blog post: Choosing a Wedding Photographer 101

1. Two Photographers

When selecting a Kansas City wedding photographer it is critical that your wedding day is photographed by a studio that provides 2 photographers.  This protects against many things and should be included in your wedding package.  We also choose to bring an assistant to all of our weddings as well.  This frees us up to focus on you and not worrying about how all our gear will get form location to location.

2. Willingness to meet and talk ahead of time

It is important that your Kansas City wedding photographer is willing to meet you.  Skype or FaceTime are fine but an in-person meeting is always preferred.  Even if you don’t live in the Kansas City area, a trip to meet your photographer is always worth it.

3. Price

It is hard not to judge Kansas City photographers immediately based on their price and how it fits into your budget.  Photographers that seem underpriced in the Kansas City market are usually either new to the industry or have other fees and hidden costs that may bite you later.  We pride ourselves on getting you all the information up front so you know just how much your Kansas City wedding will cost you.  Less expensive photographers may not have the extensive experience and gear required to address everything that comes up. Are they ready for a rainy day?  What about a dark venue?  (I’m looking at you Danforth Chapel)  Our years of experience in the Kansas City wedding photography market have prepared us to handle any situation that comes up.

While we know additional photography budgets don’t just fall out of the sky, it is important to remember that your wedding photos are one of the few things that you will have forever.  Our goal is to preserve these wedding memories with art that will last generations.  You don’t want to have to tell your great-grandchildren that you don’t have any photos from your wedding because you picked a low-cost wedding photographer.

4. Wedding Albums

What will you do with all your images from your wedding photographer? Most people choose to place them in a artfully designed wedding album that your wedding photographer should provide you as part of their wedding photography package. Don’t underestimate the importance of a wedding album from your wedding day. This is your first family heirloom and your one keepsake you will have forever to remember your Kansas City or Lawrence wedding.

When selecting a Kansas City wedding photographer you should look for an album that best represents you and your new family. Wedding albums come in all shapes and sizes. Questions you should ask your Kansas City wedding photographer:

  • How many pages come in the wedding album?
  • Is it photo printed or press printed?
  • How many images will be in the wedding album?
  • What leather or fabric options are available for my wedding album?

5. Coverage

Even the most simple Kansas City wedding may require 8-12 hours of wedding photography coverage. You don’t want to miss out on anything that happens on your wedding day. Look for wedding photography packages that include 8-12 hours of wedding photography coverage as well as an engagement session and wedding album.  Many couples underestimate just how many hours they will need.  We want to be with you the entire day from getting ready to the big send-off!

Some Kansas City wedding photographers’ prices may seem cheep at first glance, but may not include adequate coverage on your wedding day. Those extra hours are often very expensive when you realize this on your wedding day.
